Alyssa Small is a journalist based in Billings, Montana, and she works as the city editor for the state’s best newspaper, the Billings Gazette. She manages reporters and news coverage, deciding what the paper will cover and how.
Previously, she worked as a copy editor/page designer for the Pierre Capital Journal in Pierre, South Dakota. She reported for the 2012 edition of the Montana Native News Project and also copy edited, designed, reported and wrote a column on her experiences abroad for the Montana Kaimin. She interned as a reporter at the Bozeman Daily Chronicle and contributed to the Montana Town Project. Her photos have appeared in the Billings Gazette, on Newwest.net and in the Montana Kaimin.
Alyssa has lived in Montana for most of her life and attended the University of Montana. She graduated with a B.A. in journalism in May 2012 and a B.A. in creative writing in December 2012. She also spent five months in Edinburgh, Scotland, where she studied English at Napier University.
